However, there is one word that is rarely associated with Joomla: blogging.
The reason is that extensive blogging capabilities aren’t built into Joomla. But there are two ways you can go about making a blog. One method is to publish articles that look and act like a blog. You will have to use different Joomla extensions to add the various features found in blogs.
The other approach is to install a single extension that does it all. This is the preferable method if you wish to have a full featured blog without having to mess around with lots of extensions for each individual feature. There is an extension repository that offers lots of excellent extensions for just this purpose.
One of the more popular extensions is called EasyBlog. It’s an all-in-one blogging component that has lots of features and integrates with a good number of other third party extensions as well as the major Joomla templates. It has social network integrations that allow you to post automatically to Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin.
It also features a blog dashboard where you can manage your files, images, and other media. So Joomla’s lack of extensive blogging capabilities is readily overcome with the install of a single extension, and EasyBlog is just one of many that do this.
There is no shortage of beautiful and professional looking themes for the Joomla user. Many of these are mobile responsive. Some themes are free while others are premium. For a business, it’s advisable to stay away from the free themes because there is no support available with most of these. Every time you encounter a hick-up, you will spend hours researching forums for information on fixing the problem.
Another problem with themes and all-in-one blog extensions, is that you are boxed in by their basic look with respect to themes and their capabilities with respect to extensions. If you have a unique requirement that is outside of the reach of themes and extensions, then it’s time to use the services of a joomla developer. Many businesses make use of developers even when their requirements can be met by available themes and extensions. The reason is they don’t have the time to do the research or go through the trial and error process of finding what works best for them.
