How The ADA Impacts Restaurant Digital Technologies

An often overlooked virtue of web and kiosk technology in the restaurant industry are the ADA benefits to the disabled. For many the technology may be just about convenience, but for others, it can be the difference between your establishment and somewhere else.

Digital Tech Makes Mobile Payments Safer Than Credit Cards & Cash

Mobile app development for restaurants uses payments that are becoming increasingly popular among both customers and businesses. What Does A Restaurant Web & Mobile App Need To Be Successful?

What Does A Restaurant Web & Mobile App Need To Be Successful?

The new age of digital technology is upon us. And let's face it, the days of picking up the phone, dialing a fast casual, and placing a pick up or delivery order are essentially gone. What does a restaurant web & mobile app need to be successful? Restaurant customers are increasingly expressing this sentiment: If they don't have online ordering, I'm not going to call, so I'm not ordering. With Apple's App Store receiving more than 1,000 app submissions from developers each day, restaurants are taking notice and throwing their hats into the app ring. Rails: Slim Down Your Views

Rails: Slim Down Your Views

Luckily, many frameworks implement some sort of templating system for easier to read and write views. By default Rails uses ERBs and many developers use the HAML gem to simplify view syntax even more, but today we will discuss the lesser used Slim gem. First, a demonstration of the syntax:   body h1 This is a page #main - @thing.each do | t | .title = t.title   The first thing to take note of when using Slim is that it relies heavily on proper indentation for nesting tags. Any minor indentation mistake...

We need an Internet National Holiday

We need an Internet National Holiday

On this day - October 29th, 1969 - the Internet was born. The first connection on what would eventually become the Internet was made when data was exchanged between computers at UCLA and the Stanford Research Institute (SRI). It was the beginning of ARPANET, an early version of the Internet as we know it, developed by the Department of Defense. The transmission sent read "lo." The dispatch was originally sent as "login," but only the first two letters were received before the system crashed. By the end of 1969, the University of Santa Barbara and the University of Utah were connected to UCLA and SRI, bringing the total up to four connected sites. The following year, there were ten. And thus, the Internet was born. Well, kind of. The Internet, as we know it, didn't come to be overnight....
